TUCSON - There's been a rash of homicides in Tucson. In 11-days, Tucson Police have investigated five separate incidents that resulted in six murders.
Tucson police have made arrests in four of the five incidents. The only one that remains open involved a 31-year-old father by the name of Jajuan Gordon. He was sitting at the bus stop minding his own business at Golf Links near Kolb on October 18th.
His aunt, Monica Gordon says, "These men walked up to him, and provoked him, took his tennis shoes, shot him in the back of his head."
She went on the say "He was a loving father, and he always had his kids with him. And I just thank God that day he didn't have them with him."
Tucson Police say one of the individuals involved in the shooting had gang affiliations.
Of the five incidents three have been gang related. Sgt. Chris Widmer a spokesman for the department says, "Three in a certain period of time may seem like a lot, but we're actually down with the gang violence."
So far, the homicide numbers are also down slightly from 2012. This time last year there had been 39, so far this year 38. Sgt. Widmer adds, "We went a period of 2 1/2 months without a homicide just recently. And now there have been a few homicides in the last couple of weeks. But that's not a trend or a sign of violence in the city of Tucson ."
While the numbers say one thing, Jajuan Gordon's family say another. Zinia Daniel, another aunt says, they're devastated, "My little niece and my nephew are growing up without their father, and he was so happy when he had a little girl. It's just a tragic senseless death that didn't have to happen."
The family is desperately seeking answers if you have any information about this incident call 911 or 88 CRIME.
