Real Estate agent rescues dog and her seven puppies

GREEN VALLEY - Amber Gebhart earns a living selling real estate but her real passion is rescuing animals in need.

She's been rescuing dogs ever since she was a little girl. "My father and I would be walking or driving down the road and see a dog and he knew I wouldn't rest until I got that dog in the car," Amber said.

A mother dog and her seven puppies are Amber's latest success story. The mother dog and her six month old puppy lived on the streets of Sahuarita, barely surviving on scraps begged from construction workers. "She was skin," Amber said.

Night after night tryed to rescue the two dogs but they were too elusive. Then amber learned the mother dog had recently given birth to another litter so Amber and her daughter followed the dog to a desert area and found her den. "I let out a scream and they all came running out and I snapped a picture of them," said Amber.

She grabbed two of the puppies but the other four ran deeper into the den. Amber then asked the Rural Metro fire fighters at Station 79 to help. Within 30 minutes all the puppies were safely caged. Eventually the mother dog and all of her puppies were reunited at the Animal League of Green Valley.
