TUCSON - Pima County Sheriff's Department SWAT team members are still on the scene of a Studio 6 Motel on Tucson's south side, negotiating with a man who has taken a woman and three small children hostage.
News 4 Tucson's Angelique Lizarde is there, she says that PCSD officials are negotiating over the phone with the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Luis Felix, Jr.
Here is the latest official word from PCSD official Dawn Barkman:
"At approximately 2:11 a.m. this morning, deputies from the San Xavier District responded to a shots fired call in the 4900 blk. of S. Outlet Center Drive. Upon arrival, they found two bails bondmen who had apparently attempted to take a felon into custody who was located at the hotel/motel (Studio 6)."
The suspect is identified as Luis Felix, Jr., 22, Barkman said. "He is confirmed to be inside the room. An adult female and three small children are confirmed to be inside the room as well. The children are listed as the suspects five and seven year-old daughters and the other child is the six year-old son of the adult female who is also inside the room."
Felix fired at least one shot at the bondsmen, who returned fire with pepper balls, Barkman said.
