TUCSON - Shortly after the formal sentencing of January 8 gunman Jared Loughner, survivors of the shooting spoke about the tragedy, its effect on their lives, and the need for reform in the areas of mental health and gun control.
Congressman Ron Barber, Bill Badger, Randy Gardner, Pam Simon, Daniel Hernandez and Patricia Maisch, all present at the scene of the shooting on January 8, all spoke briefly during the news conference.
After, Pima County Attorney Barbara LaWall then spoke on the process of charging and sentencing Jared Loughner, and why the state of Arizona did not seek additional prosecution beyond the federal charges he was sentenced for today.
