TUCSON - This raw video clip shows scenes from the officer-involved shooting this occurred late last night near Speedway and I-10.
The clip also includes part of an interview with Tucson Police spokesperson Sgt. Matt Ronstadt. He says that at about 11 p.m. last night, TPD received 911 calls about a shirtless man yelling, screaming and kicking fences.
Once on scene, officers thought they heard a gunshot. Shortly after that, they say that they made contact with the suspect. They repeatedly asked the man to put his hands in the air, but he refused, Ronstadt says.
After more negotiations, the man put his hands in the air and officers say that he had a gun. They asked him again to drop the weapon and he refused.
There was more negotiation, according to Ronstadt, but the suspect refused to listen.
News 4 is told that two TPD officers eventually fired at the suspect. One of the officers had a rifle, the other had a handgun.
The suspect was hit at least once, and pronounced dead at the scene.
