TUCSON - Police confirm that former City of Tucson mayoral candidate Mary DeCamp was arrested at the Occupy Tucson protest site last night after refusing to sign a citation for being in Veinte de Agosto Park after dark.
The raw video above shows Green Party candidate Mary DeCamp being led away by TPD officers last night. TPD says that once they issued her and other Occupy Tucson protesters a citation for violation of the city code, she refused to sign.
TPD's policy has been to arrest, cite and field-release Occupy Tucson protesters, with a signed citation serving as a promise to appear in court, TPD officials say. Because DeCamp did not sign the citation, officers were forced to arrest her and take her to Pima County jail.
To date, hundreds of citations have been issued to Occupy Tucson protesters for refusing to leave city parks after dark. TPD was unable to provide details on the number of people cited on Thanksgiving day.
