Purple Heart veteran receives keys to new donated home today

TUCSON - A veteran who received a Purple Heart after serving in Afghanistan was welcomed to his new home this morning; the home was donated to him by Bank of America in partnership with the Military Warriors Support Foundation.

The MWSF's "Homes 4 Wounded Heroes" program provides mortgage-free homes to soldiers inured during combar in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Griego, a Globe native, was shot in the chest while serving as a Calvary Scout in Afghanistan. He sustained injuries to his lungs and spine, according to a news release from Bank of America. Once he is fully recovered, he plans to pursue his education to become a history teacher. His wife Corie also served in the military.
