TUCSON - Identity theft has quickly become one of the most organized and costly crimes happening today. To help protect against identity theft, the Pima County Sheriff's Department has partnered with Shred-It to host several "Shred-A-Thons."
The goal of these events is to raise the public's awareness and educate them about identity theft. By shredding old documents, you can decrease the chances of thieves stealing and assuming your identity.
The next Shred-A-Thon will be held this Saturday, May 17, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Casas Church at 10801 N. La Cholla Boulevard. The service is free of charge and it's a drive-through shredding service. Plus:
• An attendant will go to your car and transfer all your documents to a bin for shredding.
• No more than 5 file size boxes full of paperwork will be accepted per car.
• Documents from businesses will not be accepted.
• When the trucks are full, the Shred-A-Thon is over.
