TUCSON - To "avoid any appearance of impropriety," Tucson Police will hand off the investigation into an officer's use of force during the Elite 8 game to the Department of Public Safety.
Those findings will be presented to the Attorney General's office.
Tucson Police released the details in an update Friday.
The formal body that will conduct the investigation has been created with representatives from both the Independent Police Auditor's Office and Tucson City Attorney's Office. This Board will be chaired by Deputy Chief Sharon Allen who is currently the Interim Director of the Tucson Convention Center.
The investigation is expected to take several months to prepare and complete.
The specific actions of Sgt. Joel Mann during the Elite came into question after video of him sidelining a female student after the game surfaced.
