PRESCOTT, AZ - Police in Prescott have identified a homeless woman who was swept away by floodwaters while bathing or playing in a local creek and officials are warning people to avoid flooded areas.
Police spokesman Lt. Ken Morley tells The Daily Courier (http://bit.ly/1fm0pSf ) the body of 47-year-old Patricia Rose Rodeback was pulled from Granite Creek Monday afternoon near a park where she had been wading. She was caught in floodwaters surging downstream after a storm. A flash flood watch was in effect at the time.
More localized flooding is expected across much of the state in the coming days as monsoon activity increases. The National Weather Service is forecasting storms through at least Sunday.
Yavapai County Emergency Management Coordinator Denny Foulk warned people to avoid rain-swollen creeks and water-covered roads.
