WASHINGTON, D.C. - President Obama is calling on Congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform.
The president met with some of the nation's most prominent business leaders at the white house this morning to discuss his latest push.
He said he is hopeful he can get immigration legislation passed by the end of the year.
President Obama also encouraged the business community to help amplify the issue in the coming weeks.
"We know that the Senate bi-partisan bill that already passed would grow the economy by 1.4 trillion dollars above and beyond the growth that's already taken place. We know it will reduce our deficit by 850 billion dollars," President Obama said.
Although the senate passed an immigration bill earlier this year, passage in the republican controlled house will be more challenging.
