TUCSON - It's a cold case that's over half a century old, but detectives are trying to find new leads into the murder of Felix Rodriguez.
There's no picture of the victim, no physical evidence, and no crime scene photos, but detectives are still trying to piece together evidence.
Detective Martyn Rosalik is with the Cold Case unit.
"Rodriguez was found beaten, stabbed and strangled in the area of Mission Lane and Mission which is close to the Santa Cruz river banks."
That was February 7, 1960.
Newspaper accounts say he was found in a trash dump face down. Rodriguez was last seen at a bar.
"His pants had been removed and were draped over his legs, his shoes had been removed as well, it looked as though the suspect was looking for something."
Detectives are using old newspaper articles to piece together the case. The headlines suggest detectives back then, were looking for two suspects. Another headline says someone tied to the case vanishes, and then another one reads, two months after the murder, the case is at a dead end.
That's the situation 52 years later.
"A lot of information has been lost since that time so this is going to be a very difficult case to solve."
However, the name Glenn E. Gidley came up, but back then, there was no email, or fax machines.
"The investigator at the time had to send out letters to different agencies around the United States to ask if they had any information on a person of this name."
Detectives say Glen Gidley is probably dead by now but if anyone knew him, or is related to him detectives are interested in talking to them.
