Police make two more arrests in ASU beating

TEMPE - Tempe police say they've made two more arrests in the severe beating of an Arizona State University student.

The student was found covered in blood after being forced into an elevator in an off-campus apartment complex after the suspects fled, leaving the victim with serious head and face injuries, according to a police statement released.

Police made the first arrest in the case Tuesday night and they say the arrests of 19-year-old Harsimrandeep Bhatti and 21-year-old Joshua Drew James followed on Wednesday.

Police say Bhatti and James were both jailed on a single count of unlawful imprisonment.

19-year-old Kiernan Bates was arrested Tuesday night on charges of unlawful imprisonment and aggravated assault.

A court document says surveillance video showed several young men make contact with the victim in the lobby before three of them forced him into an elevator.
