TUCSON - Police have identified the man who was struck and killed by a Tucson Police vehicle in midtown.
Steven Duane Rodgers, 34, died after being struck by a the TPD patrol car driven at Office Chris Fenoglio, a 13 year veteran of the force, according to a news release from the department. Officer Fenoglio was traveling east on Speedway when he struck Rodgers, who was walking across Speedway just west of Santa Rosa Avenue, near Swan Road.
Detectives from the Traffic Investigations Unit determined that Officer Fenoglio was in the median lane with his emergency lights and sirens on. The pedestrian, who was wearing dark clothing, crossed Speedway form south to north, and was not in a marked crosswalk when struck, the release states.
The Office of Internal Affairs in currently conducting a separate and parallel administration investigation to examine the actions of Officer Fenoglio.
