SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Police documents released this week show that a Scottsdale police officer who resigned last year told internal investigators that he had wrongfully strip-searched at least 15 women.
Chong Kim resigned in June 2008 while being pressed by investigators about why he engaged in such conduct.
The matter came to light when the mother of one of his accusers lodged a formal complaint. Scottsdale recently agreed to pay that woman $315,000 as compensation.
Scottsdale police investigated the case and other potentially improper activities by Kim, and the results of that probe were forwarded to federal authorities. An FBI spokesman says the information is being reviewed by the U.S. Justice Department as a potential violation of the women's civil rights.
