Player of the Week - Buena's Dominique Drake

Sierra Vista - Dominique Drake spent last fall as a backup running back for mighty DeMatha High School out of Maryland, a football program that won 8 state titles last decade. Drake says, "I got to play with the best, got to work hard, did great things out there it was really good."

2 months ago his mom, Tometria, a chief warrant officer in the Army found out she was getting transferred to Fort Huachuca.

"He did not want to move because he had made friends in Maryland so he didn't want to move." Tometria said.

It didn't take long for Drake to settle into his new home at Buena High School rushing for 234 yards in his 1st game. Last Friday night saw more of the same as he ran for 193 yards and 4 touchdowns in the Colts 45-42 win over the Tucson Badgers.

Buena running backs coach Matt Brown said, "Sometimes when I'm up in the booth watching him it's just like Dom's going to go down and then you see him and he's breaking another tackle and then he's up the sideline before you know it."
