Pima County unemployment rate down

PIMA COUNTY-The unemployment rate is down in Pima County.
December 2013 numbers show the unemployment rate at 6.4%, which is down from 2012 where the rate was at 6.8%.
In Pima County 25,000 to 30,000 people are currently unemployed in the county.

Nancy Rodriguez from Tucson visited the Pima One Stop Career Center to try to find a job. She has been unemployed for the last two months. She's had previous job experience in care giving and housekeeping.
She and her husband are currently living on his social security disability.

"It is hard because we have so many bills to pay and our gas bill is getting ready to be turned off because we cannot pay our bills." said Rodriguez.

Al Ramirez from Tucson is also looking for a job. He has been out of work for 2 months and currently is doing odd jobs to get by. He is hoping to find a truck driving job. Ramirez uses several methods for his search.

"Craigslist, Career Builder, and I also go through a temp agency." said Ramirez.

Evelyn Wright, a Workforce Development specialist helps people at the Career Center. She provides these tips for those looking for a job.

"Dress everyday like you are going for an interview or going to work, and you work the job search like your job. If you are looking for a 20 hour a week job, you look for work 20 hours a week."said Wright.
