PHOTOS: San Diego fires force evacuations, burn homes

Fire crews continue to wrestle with several wildfires burning across southern California. The latest blaze erupted near Carlsbad Wednesday morning. Firefighters from Santa Barbara to San Diego are on edge and hoping for a change in the weather.

Abnormally warm weather, dry conditions and heavy winds are helping fuel the fires.

Strong Santa Ana winds and triple digit heat are in the forecast through the end of the week.

Most of the fires that flared up Tuesday were contained or under control by Wednesday, allowing thousands to return home after being forced to evacuate.
