(NBC) - An Arizona second grader is facing disciplinary action after firing a gun on a school bus Friday.

Witnesses say the 8-year old boy had the loaded gun in his backpack.

As he was moving the .22-caliber pistol discharged.

The bus driver called police, who questioned the boy, then released him to his parents.

No charges were filed, but the school district could suspend or expel the boy.
