Phoenix officers wounded when shot by wanted man

PHOENIX (AP) - Police say two Phoenix police officers were shot and wounded while apprehending two men sought in an earlier shooting.

The officers' wounds are not considered life-threatening.

According to police, a Phoenix officer spotted and stopped a vehicle with two men sought in a shooting earlier Tuesday evening in Mesa.

One man was taken into custody right away while the other ran off. A police dog then found that man hiding under a parked car in a driveway.

Police say the man under the car fired a shotgun at approaching officers, hitting two of them. Police arrested the man, who was bitten by the police dog.

Details on the Mesa shooting aren't immediately available.
