PHOENIX (AP) - A man accused in the 2010 shooting death of his southwest Phoenix neighbor has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
Maricopa County prosecutors say 28-year-old Xavier Jauregui also pleaded guilty to burglary during a court appearance Monday.
He's scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 28.
Jauregui was arrested in April 2010 in the death of 47-year-old Lincoln Brevard.
Phoenix police say Jauregui approached Brevard at his residence and asked to see his floor plan. Brevard refused the odd request.
When Brevard's wife and child returned home later, they found the victim lying on the garage floor suffering from a head injury.
Brevard was later pronounced dead by paramedics.
Police believe Jauregui returned to the residence, an altercation ensued and that led to Brevard's death.
