PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say Higley high school teacher has died after getting a severe case of swine flu that sickened her for a month.

Authorities say 51-year-old Gail Stapleton had an underlying health condition - asthma - which health officials have found worsens the impact of flu.

Stapleton died Oct. 30, one month after she went on medical leave. She had been teaching high school English at both Higley High and Williams Field High School.

Stapleton's family allowed the Higley Unified School District to announce her death Monday.

Her family is planning a burial next Monday in North Lake, Wis.
