Phoenix-area soldier dies from combat injuries

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
Chief Petty Officer Christian Michael Pike, 31, of Peoria, Ariz., died March 13 in Landstuhl, Germany, as a result of combat-related injuries sustained on March 10 while conducting stability operations in Maiwand District, Afghanistan.
Pike was assigned to a West Coast-based Naval Special Warfare unit.
