PHOENIX (AP) - A train that will shuttle passengers between a light rail station and Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport has gone on its first ride.
Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton helped send the PHX Sky Train on its first trip Monday on a track between the train station and a maintenance facility.
The automated train will begin service next year to one airport terminal. It will run every day of the year at no charge to travelers.
City officials say the electrically powered train will expand service by 2015 to other terminals and a rental car center.
