TUCSON - The 4th of July weekend is one of the busiest times for local veterinarians. Animals often run from the sound of fireworks and get hurt. A local clinic is hoping you can help them re-stock their blood bank so they're prepared.
Southern AZ Veterinary Specialty & Emergency is the only animal blood bank in Tucson that supplies other clinics. Your pet needs an exam to determine if he or she is a good candidate to be a donor.
YOUR PET CAN BE A HERO TOO IF THEY ARE...
-Between the ages of 1-7
-Over 50 lbs for dogs
-Over 10 lbs for cats
-Never been pregnant
-Current on all vaccinations
-Of good overall temperament
-Indoor cats preferred
Blood Needed For:
-Trauma, like being hit by a car
-Immune mediated hemolytic anemia (IMHA), very common in certain breeds
-Snake bite treatment
