PHOENIX - A person has died in an apartment fire in north Phoenix.

Phoenix fire Capt. Tony Mure says a couple called late Sunday morning to report smoking coming from a neighboring apartment.

A body recovered in the fire's aftermath is suspected to have been a man who is about 65 years old and lived in the neighboring apartment.

The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation.
