TUCSON- Personal Trainer Brian Macarthur at Power and Physique Systems said people are already coming in to shed the pounds.
"We definitely see an increase in memberships this time of year, everyone's resolution is to get back into shape," MacArthur said.
Trainers said getting into shape doesn't just happen overnight, they say you have to be disciplined and patient in order to see results.
"Doing one workout a week isn't going to cut it, you have to be in four or five days a week and stay consistent with it," MacArthur said.
Dan Bostick said he's hitting the gym this year after receiving a wakeup call from his doctor.
"I'm gaining weight and I shouldn't be, so this was the best way to do it and get rid of the weight," Bostick said.
Mia Habibi said it's great to be back in the gym.
"My resolution for the year is to get a six-pack again, so that's why I'm here five days a week," Habibi said.
MacArthur said to make your workouts more enjoyable, go to the gym in a group or sign up to take some classes.
