Pedestrian killed in weekend accident identified

TUCSON - We now know the name of the man hit and killed on the southeast side over the weekend.

Tucson Police say 50-year-old Roberto V. Romero died after being hit by a pickup truck in the area of West 22nd Street and South 8th Avenue on Saturday February 9th.

Police say Romero was walking northbound across 22nd Street around 7:45 p.m. when a white Ford pickup truck traveling westbound on 22nd Street hit him as he was crossing the road. There were no operating streetlights at the intersection and Romero was wearing dark clothing at the time. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. No citations have been issued.
