PCSO: Woman attempts to transport money for Mexican drug cartel with toddler in the car

PINAL COUNTY - On Monday, a Pinal County Sheriff's deputy pulled over a nervous driver near Eloy.

According to the K-9 deputy, the driver of the sedan was Maribel Toscano, 26, from Mexico. She had a 3-year-old child in the back seat. The deputy noticed a bundle of cash inside her purse, with more bundles of cash next to the child.

The car was also full of brand new things that looked like she had been shopping all day.

Toscano admitted to receiving the money in Phoenix from a Mexican Drug Cartel member, she was told to take the money to Mexico. She admitted that after getting the money she separated and packaged the money in the plastic wrap. The K-9 alerted to the deputy that there was drugs in the bundles of money.

The money, totaling $69,975, and vehicle were taken for evidence.

Maribel Toscano was arrested and booked into the Pinal County Jail for one count of Money Laundering. The child was turned over to a friend.
