TUCSON - Pima County Sheriff's Department officials have identified the man who was found deceased in a burned-out vehicle in a northwest Tucson neighborhood Friday night.
The body of 54-year-old Anthony Walter Patrick Basher, from California, was discovered in a burned vehicle in the 4500 block of North Caminio Callado at about 8 p.m. Friday.
Sheriff's deputies found a homeowner trying to put out a burning Mercedes-Benz sedan with a garden hose. Once fire crews arrived, they put out the flames and discovered the body.
Deputy Tom Peine said the car's owner was out of town, but said a friend had been staying at his home. Today, he confirmed Basher was the friend staying at the residence of the car's owner.
The investigation is ongoing at this time, Peine said.
