Patrol Sergeant shot in the head, TPD continues searching for suspect

TUCSON - Tucson Police Department is searching for a suspect in connection with the shooting of patrol sergeant, Robert Carpenter.

Carpenter was shot in the head around 5:50 in the morning after responding to the sounding of an alarm at a residence in the 4000 block of East Elmwood.

Police have released a more detailed description of the suspect induding an image of a hat he may be wearing. The man is described as balding and Hispanic, between 20 and 30 years old, wearing light blue jeans, and a dark blue jersey with the number 43 in large red lettering outlined in white on it.

Sgt. Carpenter is a veteran on the force and has been with Tucson Police for 12 years. If you have any information on the man police are searching for, please call 88-CRIME or 911.
