TUCSON - Areas along Magee Road will be closed this month to allow Pima County Department of Transportation, Regional Transportation Authority and KE&G to improve them.
The closures are needed to allow KE&G to install an underground drainage system, prepare for final paving, and construct a bridge for pedestrians at The Cañada del Oro River Park.
The Cortaro Farms/Shannon Road intersection of Magee Road will be closed starting Monday, November 26, 2012, and should end Friday November 30, 2012. The closure will begin at 5:00 a.m. on Monday and is expected to end at 5:00 p.m. Friday. Traffic will be detoured to Thornydale Road, which is west of the intersection.
North of the Cortaro Farms and Magee Road intersection Shannon Road will be closed until mid-December.
In a news release, it was stated that the pedestrian path of Cañada del Oro River Park at Magee Road will be closed as well, remaining closed until February 2013.
Businesses will still be accessible throughout the construction closures.
The schedule is subject to change.
