ISLAMABAD (AP) - Pakistan's newly-elected prime minister, Nawaz Sharif, has been sworn into office for his third term.
President Asif Ali Zardari administered the oath of office on Wednesday to Sharif at the presidential palace, in front of a crowd of government officials, military officers, and diplomatic representatives.
Lawmakers earlier in the day elected Sharif by a wide margin as was expected, following his party's victory in the May 11 parliament elections.
During a speech shortly after his election, Sharif vowed to improve the country's ailing economy and called for an end to American drone strikes.
