TUCSON- An early morning two-alarm fire completely destroyed the Oishi Sushi Restaurant on East Golf Links Road.
According to Captain Jeff Langejans with Tucson Fire, dispatch received seven 911 calls just before 3 a.m. Sunday morning. Upon arrival they found heavy smoke and fire inside the attic of the structure.
Once a ladder company cut a hole in the roof, they observed a considerable amount of fire inside the attic. At that time, they changed their tactics to a defensive approach and a second alarm was called out 15 minutes later.
Langejans said it took 17 units and 43 firefighters to bring the blaze under control after 45 minutes.
No injuries were reported.
Langejans said an estimated $500,000 in damage occurred.
