Overnight drilling to restrict I-10 between Ina and Sunset

TUCSON - Overnight drilling for geotechnical work on I-10 between Ina and Sunset roads begins Sunday.

The Arizona Department of Transportation will have lane closures on Interstate 10 between Ina and Sunset roads beginning Sunday, Nov. 10, as drilling for geotechnical work continues along I-10.

The work is part of the I-10 improvement project between Ina and Ruthrauff roads and will occur as follows:

Sunday, Nov. 10
• The right lane on westbound I-10 between Sunset and Ina roads will be closed overnight from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.
• All entrance and exit ramps in this area will remain open to the traveling public.

Monday, Nov. 11
• The right lane on eastbound I-10 between Ina and Sunset roads will be closed overnight from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.
• All entrance and exit ramps in this area will remain open to the traveling public.

Tuesday, Nov. 12
• The left lane on eastbound I-10 between Ina and Sunset roads will be closed overnight from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.
• All entrance and exit ramps in this area will remain open to the traveling public.

The purpose of the work is to conduct geotechnical field investigations for final design in anticipation of the construction of the two traffic interchanges scheduled to begin in 2016 at Ina Road and 2018 at Ruthrauff Road, respectively.

Additional geotechnical work will also take place at Orange Grove Road, Sunset Road, Cañada Del Oro (CDO) Wash and Rillito Creek.

The work along the entire project area began in August 2013 and is expected to last through spring 2014. Your patience is appreciated as ADOT moves forward on this very important project.
