PRETORIA, South Africa (AP) - It's been an emotional day on the witness stand for Oscar Pistorius at his trial in South Africa in the shooting death of his girlfriend.
The double-amputee track star broke down in sobs and howls while testifying Tuesday, forcing the court to adjourn.
Pistorius was describing the moments he said he first realized that he had shot girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp through a bathroom door in his home last year. He has said he mistook her for an intruder.
Prosecutors say he shot her deliberately after an argument.
Pistorius testified Tuesday that he heard a window open in his bathroom in the early hours of February 14, 2013, causing him to believe intruders had entered his house. He said "that's the moment when everything changed."
