TUCSON - Sunday the annual gem show wrapped up, and organizers are calling it a success.
The gem show season attracts an estimated 55 thousand out of town visitors.
Promoters tell us this year, they believe attendance has grown.
Sheryl English Crable said her Flare for Fashion sales were more than $21,000 this year.
"This year we've done fantastic," said Crable.
She and her husband came from Sacramento, California bringing jewelry from around the world.
She said just on the first day, she had a wholesale customer come in, and then a man looking to spend money on his wife. She said he bought a $1,000 necklace.
"As he was getting ready to leave, he wanted to buy a Native American bracelet for us, so he spent another 180, so it's been a really good show for us," said Crable.
Both vendors and customers we spoke to said they think this year's gem show was a hit.
"I found some jewelry, I found some scarves for five dollars. It's just beautiful. I bought a purse for a reasonable amount of money. Pretty much whatever they had here I was looking," said Diana Campos, a customer.
Show promoters told us they believe more publicity and a slight economic turn around increased attendance at least 10% this year.
