TUCSON - A two-vehicle accident in midtown has left one person dead, and sent five people to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The intersection of 5th Street and Columbus was shut down at about 2 a.m. after a half-ton pick-up truck ran a red light and slammed into a car, Tucson Police officials say.

The driver of the car survived, but one person in the truck died, and several others were in serious condition when they were transported to a hospital.
