WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama is asking Americans to follow his lead and honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by volunteering on projects that benefit neighborhoods and those in need.

The president and first lady will pitch in today at a to-be-named location in Washington, while Cabinet chiefs and other top officials do likewise across the country.
