SEDONA, Ariz. (AP) - The fire that has been burning around northern Arizona's Oak Creek Canyon for more than two weeks now is fully contained.
Fire officials said Wednesday that crews continue to monitor the fire perimeter and many areas within Oak Creek Canyon remain closed to the public.
Authorities say the Slide Fire is believed to be human caused and remains under investigation.
They say the fire still is at 31 square miles and has cost more than $10 million to fight so far.
The fire began May 20 near Slide Rock State Park in the scenic canyon between Sedona and Flagstaff.
About 300 residents and business owners were forced to evacuate. They were allowed to return to their property on May 29.
