PHOENIX - The FBI says Arizona homicides rose almost 16 percent last year.
Arizona cities that saw significantly more killings include Tucson, which had 35 in 2009, compared to 51 last year. That's a 46 percent increase.
Violent crime overall in the state fell by 3.1 percent, and property crime dropped by 3.7 percent.
Yesterday, the FBI reported a drop in violent crime across the country. Crime dropped six percent, marking the fourth straight year of declines.
Property crime also was down for the eighth straight year, falling about three percent.
