PAGE, Ariz. (AP) - Federal transportation officials are investigating what caused a single-engine plane carrying a pilot and six French tourists to crash in northern Arizona, killing one person.
Bob Logan, chief pilot for American Aviation, Inc. in their Page location, says National Transportation Safety Board investigators were at the crash site Sunday.
Police say the aircraft hit the ground and toppled over near the airport runway amid windy conditions Saturday afternoon.
Capt. Ray Varner says one passenger died after being rushed to a hospital, while another is in stable condition at Flagstaff Medical Center.
Logan says the pilot was among four people treated and released for minor injuries.
Logan declined to identify the pilot, citing the ongoing NTSB investigation.
He says the company is very sad for the people involved.
