NOGALES - A hand-dug tunnel was unearthed in the backyard of a Nogales home Tuesday night.
An investigation by federal agents honed in on a home that was about 1 and-a-half miles north of the border, a release from Immigration and Customs Enforcement detailed.
The entrance to the tunnel was found in a backyard shed. Agents described the tunnel as being crudely made with a 3-foot-tall opening and about two-feet wide.
The length of the tunnel extended 52 feet where it connected to an underground sewage line that runs under the border.
No people or drugs were found in the tunnel, but 8 pounds of heroin, 3 pounds of marijuana and $1,400 cash were seized from the house.
No arrested have been made.
