NOGALES - Border officials say so far, so good when it comes to the construction of the newly-improved border fence in Nogales.
Officials said the fence, which will stretch close to three miles, will be very effective when securing our borders.
"It reduces the cross border activity, which impacts the community in Nogales - the smuggling activity, the assaults on agents and the police officers that patrol the area," said Border Patrol agent Sabri Dikman.
Not only will the bollard fence stand close to 30 feet tall, but officials said it's also being constructed deep in to the ground.
So far officials said 2.5 miles of the project have been completed but they still have a quarter of a mile left to go.
The fence is expected to be completed by July 26th.
