TUCSON - Even after two active days of Monsoon storms we were back at it again this afternoon.
Scattered storms took off in the higher elevations early this afternoon and slowly made their way into the valley floors. The hardest hit parts of Tucson were on the north and southwest sides with gusty winds, blowing dust and heavy rainfall.
TIA only reported a trace of rain today so our official monsoon total sits at 0.95" but some parts of Oro Valley saw 0.50"-1.00". Safford picked up the most recorded rainfall with 1.15" while Fort Huachuca came in with 0.15".
Another round of isolated storms in the forecast to kick off the upcoming work week with the biggest threats being locally heavy rain, gusty winds and frequent lightning. We'll watch for an upswing in storm activity by midweek as we try to tap into some moisture from the tropics.
