FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) - Pinal County has been unable to attract bidders for auto racing at its fairgrounds.
County officials have asked for proposals twice in the past year, but received no bids either time.
Pinal County Board of Supervisors chairman David Snider blames the economy.
And he says the board believes the track is a great family amenity for tourism and local fans.
The county fairgrounds suspended racing in 2008 after discovering there was no legal agreement in place to lease the race track.
Arizona law sets out specific terms for leasing county property.
Pinal County says it issued requests for proposals to comply with the law.
