GRANDVIEW, Mo. - A Missouri family's lighthearted obituary helps them find humor while grieving the loss of a loved one.
In The Kansas City Star obituary for Loren Lickteig, Air Force veteran and former councilman, it reads: "Loren G. 'Sam' Lickteig passed away on Nov. 14, 2012 of complications from MS and heartbreaking disappointment caused by the Kansas City Chiefs."
Lickteig's daughter, Jennifer, said her dad was a longtime Chiefs fan and was always cracking jokes. "He loved the Chiefs, so we had to let him have the last word."
Lickteig did not write his own obituary, but his family says he would have gotten a kick out of the one they wrote.
"If we weren't laughing, we'd be crying," daughter Diana Hennessey said.
The obituary was printed the same day as the Chiefs' 28-6 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. The team is now 1 in 9.
