SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) - The family of a Santa Barbara television news anchor who went missing this week says she is now being treated for a medical problem.
KEYT-TV anchor Paula Lopez's family reported her missing Wednesday morning and an extensive sheriff's search was launched. The 48-year-old Lopez returned home nearly eight hours later.
The family had refused to explain the episode, saying it was a private matter.
A family statement released on Thursday says they were alarmed because Lopez was experiencing a medical condition that made her unable to communicate with the family.
The Ventura County Star (http://bit.ly/VSlg9P ) obtained the statement and says Lopez is receiving medical care.
There are no other details.
Lopez is married to Superior Court Judge Frank Ochoa and she has three children.
