New pre-evacuation orders around Monument announced

SIERRA VISTA - According to the latest update, several new areas near the Monument Fire have been put under pre-evacuation notice:

West of Highway 92: From Miller Canyon north to Ramsey Canyon

Residents may see ribbons or flagging tape on their mailboxes, front door area, fencing during this process. This is a public safety indicator that the occupants have been contacted and are aware of the pre-evacuation/evacuation orders in place. Please do not remove these flagging devices as it saves time and effort on the part of emergency personnel, according to Cochise County Sheriff's Office officials.

The following areas have been evacuated already, and the sheriff's office will revisit them today to ensure that residents have left the area:

West of Highway 92: Hereford Road to Ash Canyon Road. This includes but is not limited to East Flying V Lane East Miller Canyon Road, East Hillcrest Drive, East Bristlecone Lane, East Oak Haven, East Hunter Canyon, East Baumkirchner Road, East Stump Canyon Road, East Spring Road and South Deer Trail.
