TUCSON - Tucson Unified School District has developed new curriculum to replace the highly controversial Mexican American Studies courses.
The curriculum would be the core for 11th and 12th grade literature classes taught from the perspectives of both Mexican American and African American cultures.
The new courses are designed to assist teachers in reaching the expectations of the Arizona Common Core State Standards.
TUSD wants to hear feedback from the community about their new design. Public comments will be reviewed before the content is submitted to the Governing Board for approval.
The comment period is open until July 8.
